Cancer treatment preparations. Syringe being used by a hospital nurse to extract a chemotherapy drug from a vial. This drug will be used to treat cancer. Many of the drugs used to treat cancer are highly toxic, so precautions such as wearing gloves must be taken when handling them. The chemical may be mixed with other chemicals, and then be delivered by a drip, or direct injection, into the patient's bloodstream. The intention is to kill the cancer cells, but many chemotherapy drugs also have severe side- effects. Photographed on the chemotherapy ward at the Avicene Hospital, Paris, France.
