Soap bubble showing light interference patterns. The pattern and colours on the surface of the bubble are caused by light reflecting from both the front and back of the soap film. The thickness of the film varies across the surface of the bubble, affecting the wavelength of incident white light. Certain wavelengths of white light are extinguished, producing the colour interference pattern seen here.
