Muscular dystrophy. Young girl sufferer with muscular dystrophy wearing a neck brace, holds her toy. She is strapped into a specially adapted wheelchair which provides her with body support and mobility at the press of a button. She is receiving play group therapy at a support centre. Muscular dystrophy is an inherited muscle disorder of unknown cause in which there is slow but progressive degeneration of muscle fibres. Many forms occur and no curative treatment is known. Affected children should keep as active as possible to maintain use of muscles not yet dystrophic. Photographed at "Association Francais de Myopathie (AFM)" in France.
