Physiotherapy. View of a physiotherapist encouraging a young girl to walk with the aid of some horizontal bars. Physiotherapy is used to teach people how to use their limbs correctly. It can be useful after a period of paralysis (during which the limbs may have atrophied), or in the case of someone who has a congenital disorder affecting their limbs. Affected limbs may, through physiotherapy, have their use improved. Physiotherapy is the treatment of disorders or injuries using physical methods, such as exercise, massage or electric currents, to restore muscle strength and mobility and to reduce joint stiffness.
