Speech therapy. Person with aphasia practising producing sentences during a session with a speech therapist. The man must describe what is happening in the photograph in front of him. He is aided by a visual prompt of the necessary components of the sentence: subject, verb and object. Speech therapists work with many people with communication problems. Aphasia is a condition in which a person has problems speaking, understanding, reading or writing. It often affects people as they age, or after an illness such as a stroke. Photographed in the Aphasia Clinic of Newcastle University's Speech Therapy Department, England.
