Impotence treatments. Assortment of treatments for male erectile dysfunction, or impotence. Clockwise from top left, these are: an inflatable penile implant; Caverject; a vacuum pump; a flexible penile implant; Viagra pills and Muse. Caverject and Muse contain alprostadil a prostaglandin, which enlarges penile blood vessels and promotes blood flow. Caverject relies on an injection in the side of the penis, while Muse is introduced through the urethra. Viagra (sildenafil citrate) increases penile response to stimulation. The pump uses a vacuum to stimulate blood flow into the penis, and the rings are used to keep the blood in. The implants are positioned surgically.
