Malarone anti-malarial drug. Malaria is caused by a parasite (Plasmodium sp.) that is carried by mosquitoes (Anopheles sp.) and injected into a person's bloodstream via a mosquito bite. Malarone contains a combination of atovaquone and proguanil, which prevent the malaria parasite from reproducing in an infected person's bloodstream.
