Dovonex cream. View of Dovonex cream, for the treatment of psoriasis, on top of a prescription. Dovonex is a vitamin D derivative drug. Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease characterised by thickened patches of inflamed, red skin covered with silvery scales. The cause of psoriasis is unknown, but it results in skin cells proliferating 10 times faster than usual. Psoriasis recurs in attacks of varying severity, and may be triggered by anxiety or illness. To treat the condition Dovonex is rubbed into the affected area. Other treatments include exposure to sunlight, coal tar ointment and anti- inflammatory drugs.
