Wart treatment. Blister on the skin of an 82-year- old man, caused by cryosurgery to treat a wart. The treatment had been carried out five days previously. Cryosurgery involves applying liquid nitrogen on to the wart. The extreme cold of the liquid nitrogen (-198 degrees Celsius) freezes the wart, which lifts off as the blister is formed. Warts are a common benign skin tumour caused by the overproduction of keratin, a skin protein.
