Electrotherapy treatment. Woman in a beauty clinic having electrotherapy treatment. The black and red pads send low power electrical discharges through the areas being treated. This is done to stimulate the muscles, increasing muscle tone, and it is also claimed that it helps to remove cellulite. Cellulite consists of fat deposits which commonly accumulate beneath the skin of women's thighs and buttocks. Electrotherapy may assist the metabolism of this fat by stimulating cellular activity, although such a claim is controversial.
