Woman on diet measuring her body fat using the Omron BF 302 body fat monitor. This hand-held device uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to measure body fat in the upper body as a percentage and in kilograms. A very low current is passed through the upper body. The current can pass through lean tissue such as muscle, but encounters resistance when passing through fatty tissue. Healthy women aged 20-40 years old should have between 21%-33% body fat.
