Hair loss treatment. Man applying a hair loss treatment called Regaine to his receding hairline to encourage hair growth. Regaine contains minoxidil, which was originally developed as a treatment for high blood pressure. Hair growth was found to be a side-effect of this medication. About 60% of patients get some type of hair regrowth. However, the regrowth does not continue if treatment is stopped.
