Centaury (Centaurium erythraea). Chopped and dried parts of the centaury plant. In herbal medicine this bitter herb is used to treat suppressed mensturation, colic and anaemia. It is a stimulant of the digestive system and has either an emetic (causes vomiting), diaphoretic (promotes perspiration), or febrifuge (reduces fever) action, depending on the dosage.
