Hypnotism CT scan. Hypnotised patient having her brain scanned with a CT scanner. CT scanning uses X-rays to build up a picture of the brain. In this case, the hypnotist has put the patient into the hypnotic state that is used as an alternative to anaesthetics in surgery. The CT scan may provide information on the mechanisms by which this works. Photographed at the University Hospital Centre of Liege, Belgium.
