Dental brace adjustment. Face of a dentist seen from inside a model mouth as he adjusts a dental brace. Braces, or orthodontic devices, consist of metal brackets cemented or clamped onto teeth and connected together with an adjustable wire. They are worn to correct poor teeth alignment on the upper and lower jaws (malocclusions) or teeth overcrowding. Fixed braces give more control over tooth movement when many teeth need repositioning.
