Orthodontic brace fitting. Dentist attaching a metal band to a molar in a young patient's lower jaw. The patient is having an orthodontic brace fitted. Once metal bands are in place on either side of the jaw, small metal brackets will be cemented to the remaining teeth. A wire will be fitted across the brackets and anchored in the metal bands. The wire will be slowly tightened to correct the alignment of the patient's teeth. The procedure is usually performed on children, although adult teeth can also be treated.
