Dental braces fixed to the teeth of a 13-year-old girl. Fixed braces consist of metal brackets cemented to each tooth, with an adjustable wire threaded through each bracket. Braces are worn either to reposition the teeth in an overcrowded jaw or to correct poor alignment between upper and lower jaws (malocclusions). Fixed braces give more control over teeth movement than removable braces.
