Trapped food in dental braces, which are fixed to the teeth of a teenage girl. Fixed braces consist of metal brackets cemented to each tooth, with an adjustable wire threaded through each bracket. Braces are worn either to reposition the teeth in an overcrowded jaw or to correct poor alignment between upper and lower jaws (malocclusions). A fixed brace gives more control over teeth movement than removable braces, but food is more easily trapped when wearing this type of brace.
