Dental implants. Jawbone of a patient showing the position of four implants. These are used to support false teeth (not seen) when the original teeth have died and been removed. Seen here are the bases, or posts, of the implants. These are surgically embedded into holes drilled in the jawbone. A metal peg is then screwed into position on each post, which supports a tooth-like crown.
