Pregnant woman drinking coffee. This stimulant drink is made from the beans of the coffee plant (Coffea sp.). The stimulant component is caffeine. If an expectant mother consumes very large amounts of caffeine, her baby may be restive for several days following birth, due to caffeine withdrawal symptoms. Moderate levels of caffeine are not thought to be harmful.
