Neonatal reflex test. Paediatrician testing a newborn baby's crawl reflex, as part of a range of standard checks carried out soon after birth. This reflex occurs when a baby is placed face down on a flat surface, which triggers an involuntary reflex response where the baby attempts to use its arms and legs to crawl forward. This reflex lessens by the age of 3-4 months.
