Premature baby being examined using a stethoscope to check its heartbeat. The baby is housed in an incubator on a hospital neonatal ward. A premature baby (born before 37-42 weeks of gestation) needs constant monitoring in a contained and controlled environment. The incubator allows access to care for the baby, while maintaining temperature, humidity and oxygen levels. Photographed at the Conquest Hospital, East Sussex, England.
