Neonatal jaundice treatment. Nurse attending a crying neonatal baby in an incubator. The baby is receiving phototherapy to treat neonatal jaundice. Jaundice is a condition in which the skin and eyes are discoloured due to the deposition of excess bilirubin (pigment) in skin tissues. The blue light breaks down the pigment, allowing it to be excreted in faeces and urine.
