Paediatric examination. A doctor examines the responses of a nine-month-old baby to a toy mouse. By nine months old a healthy baby is visually alert and will look for objects that are shown and then hidden, thus showing the beginnings of memory. At this age babies are also able to sit up unsupported, as seen here.
