Uterine cancer. Artwork of a malignant cancerous growth (red/orange) in the lining of a womb. This type of uterine cancer is known as an endometrial carcinoma. It affects the lining (endometrium) of the womb and is one of the more common cancers of the female reproductive tract. Endometrial carcinomas are most usually found in post- menopausal women, or women who have a history of excess oestrogen in their systems. Very early stage growths are treated by hysterectomy and the removal of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. If the cancer has spread, radiotherapy and anti-cancer drugs are used.
