Uterine polyp. Endoscope view of a polyp (centre) on the cervix (neck of the uterus). A polyp is a growth that is usually benign (non-cancerous). No surgical intervention is needed if it causes no symptoms, but some forms can turn malignant (cancerous), and, regardless of symptoms, are removed. Viewed after the application of acetic acid to make the polyp more visible.
