Vulva tumour. Gross clinical specimen of an epidermoid carcinoma of the vulva (external female genitalia). Carcinoma is a type of cancerous tumour that arises from epithelial tissue, such as skin. This is a rare form of cancer that is more likely to occur in women who have reached the menopause. It invades healthy tissue and may spread if not treated promptly. A vaginal carcinoma located on the skin surface would be a candidate for radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy, and possibly surgery.
