Contraceptive pills. Femodene oral contraceptive pills used for birth control. The days marked on the silver pill pack ensure that the correct daily dose is taken. Oral contraceptives work by altering the levels of sex hormones in the woman's body. Femodene pills contain the synthetic female sex hormones ethinyloestradiol and gestodene. Ethinyloestradiol blocks the monthly release of a mature egg (ovulation). Gestodene affects the woman's monthly menstrual cycle. The pregnancy rate when using the contraceptive pill is on average less than 1 per 100 woman years.
