Female contraception. General practice nurse showing a woman a diaphragm (cap, lower right). This is placed over the cervix (neck of the uterus) and is a barrier contraceptive that prevents the entry of sperm that might otherwise fertilise an egg. This prevents conception, but it does not prevent disease transmission. A leaflet and contraceptive pills (lower centre) are also seen. The pills are a hormonal control method.
