Chest muscles. Historical artwork of the muscles of the chest and shoulder, as seen on one side of a human body. The main muscle on the front of the chest is the pectoral muscle that covers the ribs. Bands of the pectoral muscle are seen converging to a point in the armpit where they attach to the skeleton. At upper right, neck muscles are seen descending from the skull to attach to chest bones. The clavicle (collar bone, white) runs across top. The muscle wrapped around the shoulder is the deltoid muscle, while the main muscles of the upper side of the upper arm are the biceps (lower left).
