Head veins. Historical illustration of the veins and muscles of the head and neck. The veins are coloured blue to show that they carry deoxygenated blood. They are seen branching out across the face and skull from two major veins, the internal (partially seen) and external jugular veins of the right-hand side of the neck. Colour lithograph by Fairland from The Vessels of the Human Body, 1837. Based on drawings by J. Swandale.
