Photograph of the bones articulating in the human left knee (genual) joint, seen in anterior aspect. The condyles on the lower head of the femur (top) articulate with corresponding condyles on the tibia, the larger of the two bones in the lower leg. The fibula, the smaller bone in the lower leg, is seen at right. The knee cap (patella) has not been included in this photograph. The knee joint is the largest in the body.
