Caption

Foot X-ray. Coloured X-ray of a foot seen in side view. Bones and soft tissues (pink) of the foot are visible. The ankle (centre left) is made up of several bones, and links the leg to the foot. The tibia (shin bone) meets the talus (top bone in the foot), and is separated by a pad of cartilage. The calcaneus (heel bone) extends out from the back of the foot (lower left). From the talus extend several smaller bones, culminating in the phalanges (toes, blue) at lower right.
