Caption

Circle of Willis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angiogram of blood vessels in the circle of Willis (lower centre) in the brain. This is a network of arteries at the base of the brain which supplies much of the brain with oxygenated blood. MRI scans produce slice images through tissues using a powerful magnet and pulses of radio waves. To produce an angiogram, a contrast material is introduced into an artery so that the blood vessels can be visualized.
