Blood vessels. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of blood vessels from the iris of the eye. The iris is the coloured ring of muscle that expands or contracts to alter the amount of light entering the eye. This is a resin cast - the blood vessels were flooded with a resin that then set hard. The surrounding tissue was then eaten away chemically.
