Human heart. Computer artwork of a healthy human heart, the hollow muscle that pumps blood around the body. The main blood vessels of the heart are visible at upper centre. At upper left is the vena cava (blue) which brings blood from the body. This blood is pumped to the lungs and back to the heart through the pulmonary blood vessels (blue, upper right). Oxygenated blood is then pumped by the other heart chambers to the rest of the body through the main artery, the aorta (brown, upper centre). Coronary arteries (red) on the surface of the heart (brown) supply the heart muscle with oxygen. This blood leaves the heart through the coronary veins (blue).
