Blood clot. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a blood clot on a strand that is part of a cellular filter. Red blood cells (erythrocytes, red) are seen forming the clump that is a blood clot. Blood clotting is the solidification of blood that occurs when blood vessels are damaged, limiting blood loss. A cellular filter is used in laboratories to filter cells. Magnification: x1000 at 6x7cm size.
