Human antibodies (yellow), coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). The Y-shaped structures are molecules of the immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody. Antibodies are part of the immune system, helping to defend the body against infection by binding to foreign proteins. IgG antibodies are produced by B-lymphocyte blood cells, and they are found in the liquid plasma component of the blood.
