Caption

Human brain. Artwork of an axon (light blue) releasing neurotransmitters (red) which are bursting out of a human brain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals released from nerve endings that transmit impulses from one nerve cell to another. In the brain these chemicals include serotonin, acetylcholine and dopamine. The pink convoluted area is the left hemisphere of the cerebrum. The cerebrum is the largest and most developed part of the brain, responsible for conscious thought (including memory), sensation and movement. The cerebellum (brown) region of the hindbrain is concerned with posture, balance, and coordination.
