Caption

Human brain. Computer digitised image of a healthy human brain, viewed from above. The anatomy of the surface of the left (at bottom) and right hemis- pheres of the cerebrum is seen. The cerebrum is the largest, most highly developed region of the brain; its outer surface is folded and fissured; higher conscious thought processes occur in the cerebrum with coordination of voluntary body activity. The cerebellum (at centre right, pink) is part of the hindbrain situated beneath the cerebrum. The surface of the cerebellum is also folded; this more primitive region of the brain maintains muscle tone and body balance.
