Human brain. Coloured Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan of a human brain with a superimposed chart of sensory & motor centres. This sagittal "slice" through the brain shows the brain folded & coloured blue/green. The cerebrum (at top) controls intelligent thought processes & memory. At ear level, the cerebellum coordinates muscle action & posture. Yellow lines and red spots indicate areas of the central nervous system (CNS) which carry sensory information to, and motor information from the brain. These connect at the top of the spinal cord (at centre). An MRI scanner uses radio waves to create slice- images through the body.
