Neuron, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). Neurons, or nerve cells, typically have one long output process called an axon (running down centre), which relays information to other neurons. It recieves information from other neurons through its branching dendrites, which surround the cell body at upper centre. The cell is controlled by its nucleus (dark purple dot).
