Folds in the fundic stomach lining, pill camera view. The lining (mucosa) of the stomach is heavily folded, giving it a large surface area for secretion of mucus and acid and to allow it to expand to accommodate food. The fundus of the stomach is the part that lies above the opening from the oesophagus. The stomach is responsible for breaking food down physically and chemically before passing it to the intestines where nutrients and water are absorbed. A pill camera is a pill-sized camera that is swallowed to image the digestive tract.
