Healthy bladder. Coloured urogram (X-ray) of a healthy bladder (yellow). The bladder holds urine produced by the kidneys before it is released. A urogram (or pyelogram) is produced by injecting a contrast medium which is opaque to X-rays into the blood. This is filtered out by the kidneys and passed to the bladder. Under X-rays this highlights the urinary system, allowing the diagnosis of some disorders.
