Urinary systems of a pregnant woman and her foetus. Although the embryonic kidneys are not fully developed by the twelfth week of foetal development, they do work to filter the blood. The placenta excretes waste products. This lateral view shows all the constituent parts of the urinary system: the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra of both the woman and foetus.
