Male reproductive system. Artwork of a cross- section through the male reproductive system seen from the side. Sperm for fertilising female eggs are produced in the testis (blue, lower centre). During ejaculation the sperm pass out of the two testes into the vas deferens tubes (yellow, only one seen). The sperm are mixed with fluid from the seminal vesicle (yellow, upper right) and the prostate gland (green), which lies below the bladder (upper right, green & blue). This fluid, called semen, exits through the urethra tube in the penis (lower left). The penis' spongy tissue (light blue) fills with blood to hold it erect.
