Male reproductive system. Artwork of a cross- section of the male reproductive system, seen from the side. Sperm are produced in the testis (grey). During ejaculation the sperm pass out of the two testes into the vas deferens tube (pink). They are then mixed with fluids from the seminal vesicle (pink, centre right) and the prostate gland (left of seminal vesicle, pink). The resulting mixture, known as semen, passes out of the body through the urethra (brown, lower left) in the penis. Erectile tissue in the penis (blue) fills with blood to hold it erect. Also seen are the urinary bladder (brown, upper centre) and the rectum (brown, upper right).
