Female reproductive organs. Coloured X-ray hyster- osalpingogram of a woman's reproductive organs. The triangular yellow area is the uterus, on each side of which are the ovaries (yellow/white). The ovaries are joined to the uterus by the fallopian tubes, which show here as faint lines. A hystero- salpingogram is an X-ray taken after introducing an X-ray-opaque fluid into the uterus through the vagina. The technique is used to look for physical abnormalities that could cause infertility, such as obstruction of a fallopian tube.
