Female breasts. Thermogram showing a woman's normal, healthy breasts. Thermography maps heat distribution over the body surface, giving a colour-coded image of temperature variation in steps of 1 degree celsius (see scale at bottom), where blue = cold and white = hot. A temperature reference disc (grey circle at bottom right of frame) is calibrated at 30 degrees celsius. Thermography has been used in the screening and diagnosis of cancer of the breast.
