Female reproductive system. Artwork of the female reproductive system superimposed on a female body outline. The reproductive organs are connected to the exterior by the vagina (orange oval, lower centre) The vagina leads through a narrow opening (the cervix) into the uterine cavity (orange triangle, centre). This is surrounded by the uterus (blue). Fertilised eggs implant themselves in the uterine lining during pregnancy. Eggs are produced by the ovaries (blue, centre left and centre right) and travel along the Fallopian tubes (blue white) to the uterus.
